Most ongoing classes in the Iyengar maintain a progression of practice through the month which takes care to include all of the different categories of Asanas. In this scheme, the first month is usually dedicated to standing Asanas. Standing Asanas are foundational. They give firmness and confidence, build strength, bring warmth to the body and contain within them the prepartion of all other Asan categories, as well as the more complex Asanas.
This session is a strong standing Asanas practice, covering most of the standing Asanas and ending in inversions and seated twists. The strong holds, no use of props, as well as the continuous progression from one Asana to the next, makes it an intermediate level session.
