Light on Life, published 2005, contains the wisdom of 70 years of Guru BKS Iyengar’s practice of Yoga. This is the only asana-specific segment in this book. The position sketches, with very brief notes, comes at the end of the book. However, the published sequence does involve extensive prop use, and requires familiarity with inversions. This simpler practice is suitable for those who are:
- Are not well versed with inversions
- Are not inverting for any reason
- do not having all props used in the published sequence
- Are looking for a shorter practice
This is only one of several possible adaptations of the practice presented in the published sequence. Use your discretion to adapt the positions differently if these prop arrangements are not producing the desired effect in you, or if these prop arrangements are not available to you.
Some of these positions might be contraindicated in some cases: back and neck injuries. Adaptations for such conditions are not discussed in this recording. Use your discretion in attempting these positions.
(The entire practice published in the book Light on Life is presented in three separate sessions. There is also a separate follow-along recording of this practice We recommend that experienced practitioners attempt those sessions for full benefit of the practice.
